Educational articles available on DME competitive bidding
Device Regulation Alert: Safety, Compliance and Reimbursement News, April 21, 2008
Three new MedLearnMatters Articles explain how the DME competitive bidding program is being implemented.
The bidding program will be implemented on July 1. The articles assist suppliers, physicians, and other providers in understanding how payment will be made in the competitive bidding areas selected for the first phase of the program, how grandfathering will allow certain suppliers not selected as contract suppliers in the program to continue to provide DME in the bidding area, and how suppliers can get involved in bidding for the second phase of the program.
The three articles are:
- Overview of New Medicare Competitive Bidding Program for Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) – The first in a series of articles on the implementation of this program.
- Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program: Grandfathering, Repair and Replacement, Mail Order Diabetic Supplies and Advanced Beneficiary Notices (ABNs) – The second in a series of articles on the new DMEPOS competitive bidding program.
- Pre-Bidding Activities for the Medicare Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program.
