Healthcare workers overlooking surface contamination hazards

Healthcare workers may not appreciate the infection transmission risks when touching potentially contaminated surfaces. A study found that workers, at many levels of hand hygiene knowledge, perceived surfaces as safer to touch than patient skin, despite contrary research.
