Patients in 37 Chicago healthcare facilities have been infected with a possibly lethal superbug that is spreading quickly.

According to the Chicago Sun Times, this superbug was created after bacteria produced an enzyme called Klebsiella pneumoniae Carbapenemase (KPC). This enzyme is resistant to strong antibiotics.

Infected patients increased from four to ten since last year.

Recently, KPC also showed up in 35 other states without much treatment success.
