Chicago hospitals address unusually high infection rates

Nine hospitals in the greater Chicago area were flagged for unusually high central line bloodstream infection rates in the latest edition of the Illinois Hospital Report Card and Consumer Guide to Health Care.

The Chicago Tribune talked with each of the nine facilities concerning the unusually high rates and what was being done to mitigate infections going forward, which often included revision of the central-line checklist.
