Reframing the mandatory flu shot controversy from a worker-rights issue to a patient safety concern was the focus of a Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) presentation during the 5th Decennial International Conference on Healthcare Associated Infections 2010 in Atlanta, March 18-22.
HCA’s vaccination and revised work-practice policies, such as requiring workers in patient care areas to wear surgical masks, increased the vaccination rate 65% compared to last.
