New study shows surgical masks and N95s are equal

When it comes to respiratory protection against H1N1, the CDC says N95s should be used during close contact with possibly infected patients, a recommendation that OSHA has enforced.

A new study from Japan concludes that the incidence of H1N1 among healthcare workers remained low even when they used surgical masks. Those that did acquire H1N1 appeared to become infected in social settings.
