Tip of the week: One flu shot next year, not two

The FDA voted unanimously on Monday to fold the pandemic H1N1 influenza vaccine into the seasonal flu vaccine for next year, which was recommended by the World Health Organization.
Barring any major surprises, this means there will be just one flu shot in the 2010-2011 flu season, instead of two, according to CIDRAP News. The WHO and the FDA typically pick next season’s flu shot strain in February because of the complicated process of formulating the vaccines.
