The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is concerned enough about a system for disinfecting and sterilizing instruments in healthcare facilities that it issued a safety alert on December 3 for users of the Steris System 1 (SS1).
Facilities using the SS1 should transition to an alternative method as soon as possible, says the FDA.
