New York changes tune on mandatory flu shots

Almost as quickly as the emergency regulation was created, New York has suspended mandatory influenza vaccines for healthcare workers.

The reversal has more to do with the shortage of the H1N1 vaccine than with opposition from healthcare workers and legal challenges, according to The New York Times, October 22.
The state now advises healthcare facilities to vaccinate patients first; healthcare workers come later (see Weekly Poll below), the Times reports.
