Three years after being named one of the nation’s worst-performing nursing homes by the New York State Health Department, Central Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Syracuse, NY, continues to face serious IC deficiencies, according to The Post-Standard.
A May 26 state inspection report shows that the facility failed to prevent residents from exposure to a patient with a suspected case of active TB. The health department classified the problem as “immediate jeopardy,” which indicates the problem can cause injury or death to residents. The facility was cited for the same problem twice last year, The Post-Standard reports.
The department also said the medical director failed to ensure staff members followed IC procedures, and the facility’s quality assurance program failed to recognize the problems.
