Last week the Joint Commission released official changes to the 2010 National Patient Safety Goals. NPSGs 07.03.01, 07.04.01, and 07.05.01 that deal specifically with HAIs were phase-in goals during 2009 and have now become regular standards.

Additionally the Joint Commission has slightly revised IC.02.02.01 that focuses on cleaning, disinfection and sterilization. ASCs will also see changes in their survey process as the Joint Commission has decided to align its survey procedures with CMS requirements. For more about these revisions, read “Joint Commission revisions include IC standard and ASC survey procedures” on OSHA Healthcare Advisor.
