The American Hospital Association (AHA) is lobbying the CDC to change the current guidance on the use of respirators for protection from H1N1.

A September 15 letter recommends using surgical masks for direct patient contact, and reserving N95s for aerosol-generating procedures.

The AHA’s appeal includes the argument that requiring N95 respirators will place a hardship on physician offices.
