The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) has released a “National Strategic Plan for Emergency Department Management of Outbreaks of Novel H1N1 Influenza.”
The plan intends to assist emergency departments and first responders to plan for and manage the surge of H1N1 flu cases that could arrive this fall.
The key components of the plan include threat awareness, protection and prevention, surveillance and detections, and response and recovery. The plan defines critical areas and also suggests actions to achieve successful planning.
