A report released last week by the CDC in Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) indicates that instances of the influenza A H1N1 virus transmitted from patients to healthcare professionals were linked of improper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
The CDC researched the 48 reported cases of H1N1 in healthcare workers in April and May. Since May 13 the CDC has reported 81 total confirmed cases, but the report focuses on the initial 48.
