Data presented at the 36th International APIC meeting in Fort Lauderdale, FL indicates that cases of healthcare-acquired MRSA (HA-MRSA) could be caused by the USA 300 strain of community-acquired MRSA (CA-MRSA).
Researchers at the Medical University of South Carolina examined data from 377 cases of HA-MRSA and found that USA 300 CA-MRSA may have been responsible for as many as 24.1% of HA-MRSA cases.
