A report released by Trust for America’s Health (TFAH), the Center for Biosecurity, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) analyzes the initial response to the H1N1 outbreak.
“Pandemic Flu: Lessons from the Frontlines” lists 10 lessons learned after the swine flu outbreak on topics including investments in planning and antiviral stockpiling, school closings, sick leave, and the WHO pandemic alert.
The report points out that pandemic planning has largely revolved around the potential threat of H5N1 (bird flu). Planners also anticipated six weeks of lead time before it spread into the United States.
