Survey reveals IC deficiencies in MRI centers
Infection Control Weekly Monitor, June 3, 2009
In July 2008, Peter Rothschild, M.D., released a white paper that detailed a lack infection prevention and control guidelines in MRI suites.
Last week, Rothschild released a survey to support his assertions, in which he asked 100 facilities if they had an infection control plan that included the MRI, and if employees adhered to it. The survey found an absence of written policies, and any infection control procedures were a result of preferences or training of the MRI technician.
