A new campaign, called "The One and Only Campaign" was unveiled by Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) on February 11. The campaign aims to empower patients and re-educate healthcare workers to use "nothing less than one needle, one syringe, and only one time for every injection," according to the press release.
The Safe Injection Practices Coalition, a group of healthcare organizations promoting safe injection practices, supports the campaign. The campaign cites the fact that more than 100,000 U.S. patients were asked to get tested for hepatitis b and hepatitis c in the last decade because healthcare personnel failed to follow basic infection control practices.
You can find free downloads regarding safe injection practices in the Tools section of OSHA Healthcare Advisor, plus a post about the campaign.
