Wetzel County Hospital in New Martinsville, WV is launching a “Protect Our Patients” program in an effort to better inform patients about infections, and ultimately prevent them. Beginning February 16, the hospital will begin educating patients about healthy hygiene habits in an effort to prevent the spread of germs to the numerous hospital visitors , according to The State Journal.
The program is sponsored by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), and was developed through a grant from The Clorox Company. The hospital provides free hand disinfecting wipes at the hospital entrance and hand sanitizer in every room. As part of the nationwide program, they will also be distributing “POP” quizzes to visitors.
