Tip of the week: More states consider mandate of MRSA screening

At least a dozen states are debating whether to adopt legislation that would mandate some form of MRSA screening in hospitals.
One of those states is Washington, where proposed legislation would require hospitals to screen patients for MRSA, reported the Seattle Times. Hospitals would also be required to isolate infected patients in private rooms and the legislation would subject hospitals to surprise inspections by the state Department of Health. If passed, the legislation would make Washington one of five states that have taken steps to mandate MRSA screening, the newspaper reported.
