Can oil in oregano fight MRSA?

A natural oil found in oregano could help fight MRSA, according to early research by scientists.
A team at the University of the West of England in Bristol, working with a company in India, have found that tiny quantities of carvacrol, a compound found in the common herb, is a more effective antimicrobial agent than the18 drugs it was compared against, reported Telegaph.co.uk.
Biolaya Organics, which is working to publish its research in a scientific journal, hopes to find partners to develop oregano oil-based soaps, sprays, and antibacterial wipes that could be used in disinfecting hospitals. Tiny doses of the oil can eliminate fungi and bacteria, including MRSA, the Web site reported. To read more, click here.
