Can oil in oregano fight MRSA?

A natural oil found in oregano could help fight MRSA, according to early research by scientists.

A team at the University of the West of England in Bristol, working with a company in India, have found that tiny quantities of carvacrol, a compound found in the common herb, is a more effective antimicrobial agent than the18 drugs it was compared against, reported Telegaph.co.uk.

Biolaya Organics, which is working to publish its research in a scientific journal, hopes to find partners to develop oregano oil-based soaps, sprays, and antibacterial wipes that could be used in disinfecting hospitals.
