- Describe some of the problems that Joint Commission surveyors pinpoint when it comes to IC risk assessments
When a Joint Commission surveyor comes into your IC department, the first thing he or she will probably want to see is your risk assessment, says Peggy Prinz Luebbert, MS, MT(ASCP), CIC, CHSP, independent consultant and owner of Healthcare Interventions, Inc., in Omaha, NE. That risk assessment will let the surveyor know where to start looking when it comes to your IC program.
It should also be a starting point for your IC efforts, helping you to identify potential trouble spots and begin the process of addressing them.
