Under Joint Commission standard IC.9.10, soon to become IC.01.02.01 in January after the implementation of the standard revisions for 2009, hospital leaders must allocate needed resources for their infection prevention and control program.
There’s been recent debate about the types of resources an effective IC program requires. For example, what constitutes adequate staffing levels?

Khoury, MA, MPH, MT(ASCP), CIC, ARM, CHSP, CPHQ, CSHA, director of accreditation, regulation, and licensing at Kaiser Permanente in Fresno, CA.
