Infection control experts will gather today in Washington, DC as part of International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) to discuss success stories in preventing healthcare-associated infections (HAI).
APIC will commemorate the 22nd anniversary of IIPW, which runs through October 25, by bringing together infection preventionists to talk about collaborative programs proven to reduce the incidence of infections. Topics at the October 22 meeting include best practices for management of MRSA patients from long-term care facilities, targeting C. diff, and reducing the frequency of both ventilator-associated pneumonia and central line-associated blood stream infections.
IIPW honors the work of infection control professionals worldwide to combat infections and MDROs. The theme of this year’s program is “Infection Prevention is Everyone’s Business.”
