Tip of the week: Methods to increase employee flu shot rates

Hospitals have used various methods to increase participation by healthcare workers in their annual influenza immunization program.

Methods include education and offering rewards, such as:

  • A day off with pay
  • Free lunch/dinner meal tickets for a day or even a week
  • A small cash bonus
  • Invitation to an ice cream sundae party with immunization given in a private location at the party
  • A gift card to the mall
