Five implant manufacturers post consulting payment amounts on Web sites
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, November 13, 2007
Implant manufacturing companies Zimmer, DePuy, Biomet Orthopedics, Smith & Nephew, and Stryker Orthopedics have all published consulting agreement information on their Web sites, in light of a $310 million settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), according to a November 5 article in the Journal Gazette.
DOJ investigated the companies' relationship with healthcare providers, including who the manufacturers have worked with, and how much implant manufacturers paid surgeons and surgery centers.
