Tip of the week: Involve employees in energy saving efforts

In this current climate of rising oil and natural gas costs and increasing awareness of environmental damage to the ecosystem, many hospitals strive to curb energy consumption with homegrown conservation efforts.

One way to begin is to ask staff members to turn off lights, computers, and other office equipment when not in use. Identify the culprits who may be over-using energy. Is there a building or department that seems to use a disproportionate amount of energy? Do all the lights seem to be on everywhere all the time? Take a look around and note the most obvious ways to reduce energy waste in your facility.
