Hospital association reverses stance on publishing mistakes

The Washington State Hospital Association has changed its position on the public disclosure of hospitals' preventable mistakes, saying it won't try to prevent the release of information of information about medical errors, according to the Seattle Times.
Hospital association spokesperson Cassie Sauer told the paper that her organization's phones begin ringing after a story last week in the Seattle Times reported the association's efforts to block the disclosures.
"Your article made us realize that people really want the information," she told the newspaper. "There's been a lot of reaction to this, more than we expected."
