PPV: HHS releases report about health information exchange

Healthcare organizations should pay careful attention to a newly released report about state-level privacy and security solutions for the exchange of health information. The report, Privacy and Security Solutions for Interoperable Health Information Exchange (HIE), was released by HHS' Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). It summarizes reports submitted by 33 states and one territory, as well as reports by subcontractors selected to assist with the national Health Information Security and Privacy Collaboration project sponsored by AHRQ and the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC).
The participants analyzed business practices associated with their exchange of health information along with other organizations, and identified the challenges and feasible solutions for reasonably ensuring private and secure data exchange.
