Verify your stairwell signs list the correct info
Tip Of The Week, October 17, 2007
There are plenty of signs throughout your hospital, but stairwell signs have the Life Safety Code (LSC) backing them up.
Paragraph 7.2.2.5.4 in the LSC requires signs in stairs serving five or more stories.
The signs must indicate the:
- Story
- Top and bottom of the stair
- Identification of the stair
- Story of and direction to the level of exit discharge
Verify that the signs don't refer to the same stair by different names, and ensure that the difference between the stair name and the floor level is clear.
