Support for NHIN is high, but not enough to influence voters
EHR Connection, October 8, 2007
While a majority of Americans support the development of a Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN), it doesn't appear that it will be a decisive factor in the next presidential election, according to a September 28 Government Health IT article that reported the results of a recent survey by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
The survey of 1,000 Americans nationwide revealed that while 57% of respondents favored development of NHIN, most of those polled said a candidate's position on the initiative wouldn't influence their vote.
HIMSS found that 30% opposed NHIN development and 12% said they didn't know enough to express an opinion.
