$15.9 million pledged to help develop national approach for IT

EHR Connection, October 9, 2007

p>The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation recently pledged grants totaling nearly $16 million for an IT project aimed at providing the public healthcare quality and cost data to:

  • The Engleberg Center for Health Care Reform at the Brookings Institution, and
  • America's Health Insurance Plans Foundation.

The goal of the project is to provide comprehensive information about individual physicians' healthcare practices to physicians, consumers, and employers. The project will combine data currently available from various health plans to measure performance with a broader perspective that considers quality of care and use of resources.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, based in Princeton, NJ, is the largest philanthropic organization devoted solely to healthcare issues.
