Murder-suicide at Mississippi hospital
Healthcare Security Weekly, October 8, 2007
A 48-year-old woman shot and killed her 71-year-old mother, who was a patient at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS, and then turned the gun on herself, reported The Clarion-Ledger.
The shooting happened at about 5:45 a.m. on October 6. The mother, who had lung cancer that was in remission, was at the hospital recovering from a hysterectomy, a family friend told the newspaper.
The daughter left a note saying she was under stress and could no longer cope, hospital officials said in a statement.
