Trial underway for man accused of killing security guard
Healthcare Security Weekly, September 24, 2007
A trial is now underway in Montgomery County, VA in the capital murder charges against William Morva, the man accused of killing a hospital security guard and a sheriff's deputy last August in Blacksburg.
After three days of deliberation last week, attorneys for both sides completed jury selection, filling the required 24-person jury pool, reported NBC12 News.
The 25-year-old Morva, who was a Montgomery County Jail inmate, is accused of killing the two men at Montgomery Regional Hospital after he escaped from the deputy's custody. Derrick McFarland, the 32-year-old security guard, was killed after Morva allegedly knocked out the deputy and took his loaded pistol.
