Education, motivation can be different in teens

Citing research that shows the number of adolescents diagnosed with type 2 diabetes skyrocketing, health plans and vendors are increasingly incorporating elements designed to appeal to teens into their diabetes disease management (DM) programs. Although few health plans target adolescents specifically as part of type 2 diabetes DM programs, most are finding at least a handful of young type 2 diabetics among their members. And educating those members involves some different techniques and approaches, they say.
