Survey reveals Pennsylvania hospitals lead country in IT

Pennsylvania-based hospitals lead the country in health IT adoption, according to a survey by the American Hospital Association (AHA) reported in an August 30 Health Imaging News article. The Hospital and Healthsystem of Pennsylvania, which consists of more than 250 healthcare organizations, released the AHA findings in a report entitled Improving Patient Care: Pennsylvania Hospitals' Use of Information Technology on August 28.

The study found that only 68% of hospitals nationwide have partially or fully implement EHRs, compared to 82% of hospitals in Pennsylvania. Findings also revealed that 63% of Pennsylvania hospitals use more health IT functions at a moderate or high level, while the national average is only 46%.
