Minnesota aims for statewide EHR adoption by 2015
EHR Connection, August 27, 2007
Minnesota hopes to become a health IT leader by requiring all physicians, hospitals, and providers to adopt interoperable EHRs by 2015, according to an August 17 Government Health IT article. This initiative should save the state $5 million annually.
The state expects physicians treating state employees and their families to use e-prescriptions by 2011. To obtain this goal, Governor Tim Pawlenty wants to require all providers to submit claims and eligibility checks electronically by January 15, 2009. The state will not reimburse those who do not adhere to the 2011 deadline for treating state employees.
