Ex-security guard files discrimination lawsuit
Healthcare Security Weekly, September 3, 2007
A 34-year-old former security guard is accusing a Nebraska hospital of racial discrimination in a federal lawsuit.
The man, a Gering resident, alleges that Regional West Medical Center violated his civil rights after the hospital fired him in May 2005, reported the Scottsbluff Star-Herald. The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. The man had worked as a security guard at the hospital since November 2004.
In the lawsuit's complaint, the former guard, who is an African-American, states he was fired in retaliation for filing a complaint against a female employee, the Star-Herald reported.
