Georgia docs voice their ASC concerns

Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, August 28, 2007

Drs. Stephen Finn and George Goldin discussed concerns about a proposed cut in national reimbursement policies for physicians who accept Medicare. Both physicians fear that this possible change could cost them more than half of their patients at their Rome, GA center.

U.S. Representative Congressman Phil Gingrey was on hand during National Ambulatory Surgery Center Awareness Day to hear two Harbin Clinic Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Center physicians' ASC concerns, according to an August 16 Rome News-Tribune article.

"There are a number of issues that have been set before Congress," said Goldin. "One of them is to cut back the reimbursements for ASCs, such as our center, by nearly 25%. . .If they do that, we may not be able to cover the costs for those on Medicare to have screenings, and they would have to go to the hospital," Goldin told the Rome News-Tribune.
