Tip of the week: Use MRSA data to press for IC resources
Infection Control Monitor, August 24, 2007
A recent study by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology shows that the rates of Methicillin Resistant Staph aureus (MRSA) are between eight and 11 times higher than previously estimated.
Infection control professionals should use this latest evidence that MRSA is now so widespread to justify additional resources to combat the problem. "Take the results to [your] CEOs and administrators, and use it to convince them to act now," says study author William R. Jarvis, MD, president of Jason and Jarvis Associates.
To learn more about the study, go to www.hcpro.com/content/74814.cfm. The cost is $10. Briefings on Infection Control subscribers received this story with their subscriptions.
