Medicare Health Support not generating savings

Some of the Medicare Health Support (MHS) pilot project vendors may have been at a disadvantage from the start because of the method used to calculate participants' baseline costs and because the vendors have not been able to engage the sickest, most costly beneficiaries. Both of these factors could affect the ultimate success of the pilots, which were designed to test the viability of disease management (DM) in the Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) population, according to a new report prepared for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
