Massive hospital to improve on predecessor
Healthcare Strategist Trend Watch, July 27, 2007
Although the new McCune-Brooks Hospital in Carthage, MO, is not yet complete, officials say that the 146,000 square foot facility will give patients an experience unlike any other.
The Carthage Press reports that the building will be finished by November and ready for medical staff by December. Reflecting a national trend, the hospital will cater to the needs of the patient and the visitor. Among the amenities are a 200-yard long courtyard, waterfalls, consultation rooms for family members and staff, a chapel, and three operating rooms. The new building is more than double the size of the current facility.
In the event of a contamination, the new building's emergency area can be sealed off from the rest of the hospital, and has 12 exam rooms and two large trauma rooms.
