Tip of the week: Fellow managers act as surveyors
Healthcare Security Weekly, July 30, 2007

The inspecting managers come armed with forms that cover that department's requirements. Through this approach, the managers cover each other's backs. These mock surveys often lead to "ah hah" moments in which a visiting manager uncovers a compliance issue that in hindsight should've seemed obvious. But sometimes, even clear-cut problems become hard to spot when someone sees it every day and it blends in with the surroundings.
