Most-wired hospitals have better adherence to patient safety measures
EHR Connection, July 23, 2007
Thirty-six percent of physicians in America's most-wired hospitals order medication electronically, compared to only 2% in the least-wired. That's according to Hospitals and Health Networks Magazine's (H&HN) ninth annual Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study. According to H&HN, lower mortality rates and better adherence to patient safety measures are two of the key ways America's wired hospitals outperform others. This year's surveys also showed that at the most-wired hospitals, 79% of respondents have an electronic surveillance system tied to an alert system, compared to only 14% at the least-wired hospitals.
