CMS delays NPPES release
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, July 10, 2007
CMS delayed NPI dissemination for an additional 30 days after the publication of the notice, according to the CMS Web site.
The original Data Dissemination Notice, published May 30, gave healthcare providers 30 days to prepare for the release of NPIs.
However, CMS acknowledged that extra time is necessary and therefore delayed the distribution of NPI data until August 1. During this time, providers can continue to view, update, and delete data, ensuring greater accuracy prior to the official dissemination. CMS is likely to announce a final deadline for changes soon.
