TASCS helps defeat two bills that would affect physician ownership of ASCs
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, July 3, 2007
The Texas ASC Society's (TASCS) lobbying efforts paid off as it was able to help defeat two bills that could have affected physician ownership, according to the American Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (AAASC).
The first bill, HB 3274, which was never set for hearing, would have created reporting requirements for physicians who own or invest in ancillary services or equipment necessary to patients' care in an ASC.
The second bill, SB 290, which died in the Health & Human Services Committee, would have required physician-owned ASCs to report financial data. This is not required by other types of hospital-physician relationships.
