HP to help with information exchange in CA
EHR Connection, July 2, 2007
Hewlett-Packard Co. has agreed to help develop a health information exchange in California to give physicians, hospitals, and patients access to secure electronic medical information.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the Palo Alto-based computer company will join other vendors selected by the California Regional Health Information Organization.
The goal of the project is to create systems that will allow as many as 78,000 physicians and 400 hospitals to share data. The data exchange, costing $300 million, will begin operation in July 2008. It is the largest such effort in the country.
