Socialized medical systems 'fertile ground' for DM

United States-based disease management (DM) vendors seeking to expand overseas are finding that their programs-most of which were designed for commercial populations-don't necessarily translate perfectly for the socialized medical systems found in other countries, and that's hampering those companies' efforts to broaden their markets. However, programs that are adapted to fit systems in other countries have the opportunity for huge returns, because even though DM has been developed in this country, nations with socialized medical systems are fertile ground for these types of interventions, DM executives involved in international efforts say.
