Hospital creates new position to boost compassionate care
Quality Improvement Monitor, June 22, 2007
Cleveland Clinic in Ohio has created a new position of chief experience officer, whose goal will be to boost patient satisfaction.
The new officer is M. Bridget Duffy, MD, whose mission will be to address the emotional and physical experience for the patient, and restore empathy as a core value.
"We recognize that delivering world class healthcare requires a lot more than providing patients with access to leading-edge treatments and technologies," Delos M. "Toby" Cosgrove, MD, CEO and president of Cleveland Clinic, said in a press release. "We must exceed the expectations of those we serve, offering compassion, showing empathy, and providing patients with the responsiveness they deserve. With her passion for patient-centered initiatives, Dr. Duffy is the ideal person to oversee the clinic's efforts to provide a world-class patient experience."
