Coding tip: Correctly sequence CPT codes on claim forms
Ambulatory Surgery Reimbursement Update, May 29, 2007
You should sequence CPT codes on Medicare claims from highest to lowest payment groupings.
You should follow the same sequencing on claims from payers with which your ASC facility is contracted who also use groupers.
If you do not have a contract with a payer, or a payer does not use groupers, list the CPT codes on the claim from highest to lowest relative value units (RVU).
